Faena Festival: This Is Not America

Faena Forum, 3300 Collins Avenue

The inaugural Faena Festival titled “This Is Not America” revolves around the role of Miami as a port welcoming migrants, refugees, and tourists from across the US and the Americas, and from countries throughout the world. Organised by Faena Art’s curator Zoe Lukov and taking its cue from Alfredo Jaar’s work “A Logo for America”, the festival presents new commissions of installations and performances exploring how we choose to define our sense of place in ways that encourage dynamic identities that transcend–and even resist–the imposition of physical, historical, and political borders. Among the featured artists there are Derrick Adams who is presenting the site specific installation “America’s Playground”, Cecilia Bengolea, Alfredo Jaar, Isabel Lewis, Luna Paiva, Tavares Strachan, and Wu Tsang and boychild.

The diverse venues of the Faena District Miami Beach will be activated, including the public areas of the street, sidewalk and beach; the Faena Hotel, including its theatre and screening room; and Faena Forum – the OMA-designed cultural centerpiece of Faena District Miami Beach.

December 3 – Grand Opening Night programme:
