Charlotte Herzig: It Has No Name, So I Style it “The Way”
A solo exhibition by the Swiss artist, the first to win the Nestlé Art Prize in 2016
The art gallery Wilde, in Basel, hosts the solo exhibition by Charlotte Herzig, titled “It Has No Name, So I Style it “The Way”. Working in Brussels, Herzig’s research revolves around painting: her images build on daily objects and signs as windows to a parallel and imaginative world, addressing viewers’ memories and dreams. The colourful compositions, made of overlapping shapes and collages, often trespass into the exhibition space, into vast wall paintings.
“It Has No Name, So I Style it “The Way” is Herzig’s first solo show in Basel. On this occasion, Herzig experimented with different techniques to create works in different dimensions. Just as in previous works of hers, she created visual languages and patterns made of symbols and their formal variations.
