A “Small-Format” Collection

Via Tadino 15, Milan, Italy

Marconi Foundation is presenting a group show of small-format works from Giorgio Marconi’s collection.
Occupying the first and second floor of the gallery space at via Tadino 15, the exhibition presents 300 works by sixty of the many artists with whom Giorgio Marconi has worked during the course of his long career as a gallery owner.

Marconi has organised exhibitions in his gallery with most of these artists, developing bonds of true friendship with some, whereas with others he has had a more sporadic contact, knowing them through other artists and galleries and acquiring their works out of personal interest.
He has appreciated the spirit and creativity of each one, and retained at least some small-format work for his private collection.

The works on display, both by international artists such as Arman, Anthony Caro, Christo, Jim Dine, Yves Klein, Sol Lewitt, Cy Twombly, Richard Hamilton and Pablo Picasso, and Italian masters, among them Alik Cavaliere, Pietro Consagra, Giulio Paolini, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Giuseppe Spagnulo and Emilio Vedova, represent various techniques and materials and date from the 1950s to 2012. The works include small sculptures and multiples, works on paper, décollages, works on film, acrylic on canvas, gouaches, watercolours and drawings.
