Il Disegno Politico Italiano

The exhibition at A plus A Gallery gathers a group of artists’ reflections related with the events of the last forty years of social and political Italian history. Looking at the Italian country as the stage on which major economical and political upheavals have always been anticipated, artists are invited to respond to the current state of things. “Il Disegno Politico Italiano (The Italian Political Design)” assumes in particular as starting point of this confrontation the practice of drawing, which traditionally has functioned as the principal means of analysis and complaint of society. From William Hogarth in the 18th century, following with Honorè Daumier, Georg Grosz and Otto Dix among many others, drawing has always proved to be the medium which better expresses the decline and the changes of a country. The exhibition features artists which are called to react to society’s upheavals, looking at the drawing practice of their predecessors.
