Matilde Sambo
Born in Venice, 1993
Born in Venice in 1993, Matilde Samba graduated in Visual Arts from IUAV University of Venice.
Through sculpture, video, sound and performance, she generates composite narratives that expand and enter into dialogue with space. The body, whether human or non-human animal, is the pivot around which the works develop and take shape.
The artworks emerge as woven structures, interlacing research and reflections on human evolution, the relationship between the body and its environment, sensory perception, and the tension between instinct and rationality.
A strong interest in matter and materials, including those of natural origin, accompanies her artistic development, in a continuous exchange with artisanal knowledge and collaboration.
She has participated in national and international artistic projects and residencies including: VIR, Via Farini in Residence (Milan); Open Studio Fonderia Artistica Battaglia (Milan ); BoCs Art (Cosenza); Collective Signatures (Balearic Islands); Tagli (Stromboli); Art Colony, Bronze Symposium (Hungary); Art Encounters “Six Steps forward one step back”, Volvo Studio (Milan); Angelica Festival (Bologna); Pasinger Fabrik (Munich); Argo 16 (Venice); Radio Raheem (Milan); “Falsità in buona coscienza”, aA29 Project Room (Milan); Video scenography for “Salome”, at the Teatro Filarmonico (Verona); “New Echo System” Palazzo degli Ulivi, Pro Helvetia (Venice).
