Hauser & Wirth St. Moritz
Opened in December 2018, the space is a natural extension of the gallery’s activities in its native Switzerland.
Hauser & Wirth St. Moritz is located in the heart of the Engadin Valley, a long-standing enclave of creativity: the surrounding area was home to the Giacometti family and Alpine painter Giovanni Segantini while over the last two centuries various intellectual figures have been inspired by the region, such as philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, writer Thomas Mann and dancer Vaslav Nijinsky, artists Gerhard Richter, Julian Schnabel, Richard Long, and Joseph Beuys.
The new gallery is hosted at the Palace Galerie in the centre of St. Moritz: the three-floor exhibition space has been reviewed by architect Luis Laplace, who already worked on many Hauser & Wirth projects. The gallery will open its doors with an exhibition of works by renowned late French-American artist Louise Bourgeois.
