Gió Marconi Gallery was founded in 1990 by Gió Marconi, following his previous initiative, Studio Marconi 17, an experimental space for young artists and curators he ran from 1987 to 1990. Initially directed by Gió and his father Giorgio, the gallery quickly gained attention with exhibitions by Martin Kippenberger, Mario Schifano, and Richard Hamilton. Over the next 30 years, the gallery developed a dynamic program, making bold curatorial choices and supporting the careers of its artists, while also incorporating historical artists from Studio Marconi into its focus on contemporary art.
