Internationally renowned since its foundation as a pre-eminent art gallery on the African continent, Goodman Gallery has played a pivotal role in spreading contemporary South African art. Since 2008, when Liza Essers became owner and director, the gallery has included more than 30 new international artists, especially women from the African diaspora and beyond. The exhibition programme now encompasses projects by both emerging and established international artists addressing African and post-colonial contexts.
