Established in Milan in April 1972 by Renato Cardi, Cardi Gallery began as a platform for modern and contemporary Italian artists. The gallery’s initial inventory was built upon a collection started in the late 1960s, featuring works by figures such as Lucio Fontana, Piero Manzoni, and Cy Twombly. Over the subsequent decades, the gallery expanded its holdings to encompass movements ranging from Arte Povera to Spatialism, focusing on the development of Post-War art.
In 2015, the gallery opened a secondary exhibition space in London. Currently directed by Nicolo Cardi, the gallery maintains a programme of exhibitions supported by scholarly catalogues and monographs.The gallery’s current specialisation involves the trade and exhibition of masterworks within the fields of Minimalism, Zero Group, and Italian Modernism.
