In 1999, Lia Rumma opened a gallery in the Brera district of Milan with a solo show of work by Enrico Castellani. The gallery’s presence in Milan was significantly scaled in 2010 with the inauguration of a new 2,000-sq-m permanent space, launched with a solo exhibition by Ettore Spalletti. Architecturally designed to accommodate large-scale installations, the building was conceived to support the production and display of monumental works. Since its opening, the venue has hosted major projects by internationally recognised artists, including Marina Abramović, Victor Burgin, and Anselm Kiefer, often featuring works specifically commissioned for the site. The gallery has fostered collaborations with international museums, curators, and collectors, strengthening its international presence while maintaining its programming in Milan and Naples.
